How to download all your Instagram photos and videos

The short answer

1. Open Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information.
2. Choose your Instagram profile and select Content (or all available information).
3. Set the format to JSON, include media and pick the highest quality offered.
4. Request it, and download the ZIP when Instagram says it’s ready.

Why photos or videos can be missing

If you see captions and dates but no pictures, media wasn’t included in the request. Ask for the download again with media and a higher quality setting. Large accounts can produce several ZIP files, so download all of them.

Browse them without unzipping

A ZIP with thousands of files is awkward to open by hand. Drop it on Your posts & stories and browse it as a gallery by year, with captions and dates. You can filter by type, open any item full-size and save the original file. It also includes stories that disappeared years ago, archived posts and old profile photos.

Everything opens locally in your browser, even large archives, and nothing is uploaded. Browsing and saving one by one is free.

What about posts I deleted?

Recently deleted posts can be restored in the app for 30 days. After that, your download only contains what Instagram still keeps.
