When did you create your Instagram account?

There’s a quick way that gives you the month and year, and a way that gives you the exact day plus a whole timeline of milestones. Here are both.

The quick way: month and year

Open a profile, tap the ⋯ menu and choose About this account. Instagram shows the month and year the account joined. It’s fast, but it gives you only the month, not the day.

The exact day: your data download

  1. Open Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information.
  2. Choose All available information, format JSON.
  3. Download the ZIP when Instagram says it’s ready.
  4. Drop it, unopened, on Your digital life.

The download contains the sign-up record for your account, so Unwrapped can show the exact day you joined. The request steps are in How to download your Instagram data.

What else the timeline shows

  • Your oldest follower and the oldest account you still follow.
  • Milestones: the day you reached 100, 1,000 or 10,000 of today’s followers, and your biggest year.
  • Firsts: your first post still online and your oldest like and comment.
  • A story card you can share, with your numbers only and never other people’s names. It’s free.

Why the oldest follower is later than the join date

The export only lists people who follow you today. Followers who left or deleted their accounts are gone, so the oldest remaining one can be years after you joined.

You can add your TikTok, X or Facebook export too, and every platform lands on the same timeline. Files are read in your browser and never uploaded.
