Your whole Spotify history, not just one Wrapped.
Wrapped shows one year, once a year. Spotify will send you every stream since the day you joined if you ask for your extended streaming history. Here’s how to request it and what to do with it.
The short answer
- In a browser, sign in at spotify.com and open Account → Account privacy.
- Scroll to Download your data and tick Extended streaming history.
- Click Request data and confirm the link Spotify e-mails you.
- When the ZIP arrives, drop it on Spotify stats to see your Wrapped for every year.
Account data or extended streaming history?
Spotify offers more than one download on the same page, and they’re very different:
- Account data covers roughly the last year of listening, with song, artist and minutes played. It usually arrives within about five days.
- Extended streaming history covers your whole account history, with extra detail like whether you skipped a song, used shuffle, and which device you played on. Spotify says it can take up to 30 days, and it often comes much sooner.
You can tick both. Request them today, and you’ll have the quick file to explore while the full history is being prepared.
What’s inside the files
The extended history comes as JSON files named like Streaming_History_Audio_2019-2021_0.json. Each entry is one play, with the time, the track, artist and album, how many milliseconds you listened, why it started and stopped, and whether you skipped it. Podcasts and audiobooks are listed too. The file is big and not meant to be read by hand, which is why most people never look at it.
What you can see with it
- Your Wrapped for every year: your number one artist and song in each year since you joined.
- All-time top artists and songs, ranked by real minutes listened, not just plays.
- When you listen: by hour, weekday and month.
- Skip rate, podcasts and new discoveries: how often you skip, how much is podcasts, and the artists you found in the last few months.
All of that runs in your browser on Unwrapped’s Spotify stats. Your top 5 and the overview are free; Pro adds your top 50, every year’s Wrapped and new discoveries. You don’t connect your Spotify account and nothing is uploaded, so there’s no app with access to your account afterwards.
Why not just connect a stats app?
Apps that log in with your Spotify account can only see what Spotify’s API shares: short-term top lists and roughly your last 50 plays. Your data download is the only way to get real minutes and history going back years. It also means no app keeps access to your account.
Tips
- Request again every few months to keep your history up to date. You can drop several downloads together.
- The download link in Spotify’s e-mail expires after a couple of weeks, so save the ZIP somewhere safe.
- The files include IP addresses and devices. Don’t share the raw ZIP; share your cards instead.
